Okay, I liked All Rise when it came out. It was good. I loved Lola and even more, I loved Sherri, she’s everything in that show😊.

All Rise follows Lola Carmichael, a newly appointed judge in the Los Angeles superior court, and how she navigates the American Justice system given that she was a prosecutor before becoming a judge. She is unconventional, creative, and smart, and it seems she’s just what the system needed.

All Rise (2019)

Now, to the good stuff. They just aired the last episode for the first 21-episode season and it is so damn cool. See, Covid-19 has put a halt to almost every single thing and will change how we live from now on. It’s happening all over the world and mostly now, America. God save them. 😔 Anyway, most shows were in the middle of production or nearing the end of production when it hit and so now they had to come up with ways to complete production or just simply stop production.

So what the show has done is practically film the entire episode online with the actors on their phones in a kind of video call format. How it works is that the entire show is shown as video calls between all the actors going about their business at home, but still working. So what they do, is conduct court business virtually. What is so cool is that they actually made an entire 40-minute episode that stays true to the plotline and it actually makes sense. That’s ingenious!!!

But what is most fascinating though is, what that means for the film industry. Could this actually be a viable idea to continue production of TV and films while we try to get the pandemic contained? I don’t know but it’s an idea worth exploring.

Anyway, if you love legal dramas, All Rise is definitely one to watch, and even if you don’t, it’s a good way to pass the time. Catch a sneak peek with the trailer below.
