I was never going to watch Power. It was just one of those shows that I’d gotten because everyone was all hyped about and it took me a good long while before I even watched it. It sat on a DVD in my closet for like two years and then one day, when I had nothing to watch, I was like – what the hell, let’s see what all the hype is about.
Third time’s a charm
Season One and two were difficult but season 3 onwards…… it got good. Like really good. Probably in my top ten dramas of all time. Now, fast forward to the first spin off series from Power – Power Book II: Ghost.
Courtney Kemp
And Courtney Kemp (the creator of the show) has outdone herself because weh😏!I am in love with the new show. From the get-go, it has this amazing pace and we pick up right from where we left in the Power finale.
The new plot
The plot now follows Tariq St. Patrick, Ghost’s son as he navigates through life following the events of Power series finale. We have amazing new characters who are whip-smart and interesting and you just eat them up. And the show still feels like Power. You know, all the things we loved about it; the drama, drugs & power games.
Like father, like son?
It’s gon’ be fun watching Tariq grow up and evolve, you know, grow into his own, the biggest question being if he will take after his father and become “the biggest muthaf@!*king drug dealer in New York City”.
If you loved Power, you’re gonna love Ghost and now I just can’t wait for the other spinoff shows Courtney has in store for us.
Ghost is now complete with ten episodes and trust me, you will love it- by the end, you’ll be begging for season 2.
And yes, I would recommend watching Power first before getting started on Ghost. But you could just as well start with Ghost and come back later to watch Power. Just pick a weekend and binge the whole six seasons. It’s totally worth it.
